CSV Training Modules
CSV Cadastral Training Modules Returning in 2026
Consulting Surveyors Victoria is pleased to confirm that all six CSV Cadastral Training Modules will be delivered again in 2026.
These modules continue to be a cornerstone of CSV’s professional development offering for PTA candidates. They are primarily designed to support candidates by strengthening practical knowledge, legislative understanding and professional judgement - particularly in areas that surveyors deal with every day but don’t always get the chance to step back and examine in depth. The modules also provide an excellent knowledge enhancement opportunity for surveyors obtaining registration in Victoria through reciprocal arrangements and in most areas would be of benefit to many Licensed Surveyors
The CSV Training Modules focus on why things are done, not just how. A strong understanding of the legislative and historical foundations of land surveying in Victoria is critical to good boundary determination, sound advice to clients, and professional confidence - especially as planning and regulatory frameworks continue to evolve.
What the Modules Cover
Across the six modules, participants will work through topics including:
The history and evolution of Victorian cadastral surveying, including land alienation and pre-Subdivision Act parcels
The Subdivision Act 1988 and its practical application through real-world case studies
The relationship between the Planning and Environment Act 1989 and subdivision processes
Rural boundary determinations, fencing issues and practical field considerations
Staged subdivisions and development options for clients
Building subdivisions, including entitlements, liabilities and post-registration changes
A deeper, applied understanding of planning as it relates to land development and surveying practice
The modules use a mix of case studies, discussion and applied examples to complement - not replace - on-the-job experience and supervision.
Who Should Attend
The training is particularly valuable for:
Candidates working toward licensing
Surveyors obtaining registration in Victoria under reciprocal registration
Early- and mid-career surveyors looking to strengthen fundamentals
Licensed surveyors wanting to refresh legislative knowledge
Practitioners seeking practical CPD aligned with real project work
Modules can be taken individually, but together they provide a comprehensive grounding in Victorian surveying practice.
Looking Ahead
With changes underway across planning, licensing and CPD requirements, CSV is committed to delivering training that is relevant, practical and genuinely useful. Running the full suite of modules in 2026 ensures members have access to consistent, high-quality professional development throughout the year.
We look forward to welcoming members back to the CSV Training Modules in 2026.
